Subs dont really have left or right. They are just mono, they sum up both L&R and mix them internally. Same with home audio, most receiver outputs for the sub is one rca as well.

Thats what I'm saying. So then why bother splitting the HU sub out with a Y splitter to the amp as previously recommneded?

Thanks for the input. I am running a decicated HU sub out to an amp for just a sub as the first post states. I am powering my door speakers off my HU. jbone Was this comment for me(OP) or ABN the thread jacker? -JK ABN

Merty,

Sorry, had to catch up on your application. As you already stated you have a dedicated sub out running to your amp mono for the subwoofer, that is perfect. However if you are looking at adding an additional amp for stereo output to your doors than absolutely use an LOC. Most amps will allow 1 stereo input for both front and rear signals even through there is a front & rear rca input on the amp. You can get either 2 channel or 4 channel LOC's so it really is up to you and depends on your amp whether you need to send 4 channels or not.

I see other's have answered your questions pretty thoroughly regarding grounding etc but if you want clarification on anything else let me know. It should be ok to run speaker wire along with the power wire down the right side but I personally wouldn't. I have had minor noise issue in the past doing this so I tend to run all signal wires together and then the power separate. Just a standard rule of thumb in the industry. If you HAVE to then you need to make sure you cross at 90degree as a previous poster stated as this is the most effective way to stave off potential noise in the system.

I am just about to dive into my system as well... just making final decisions on the equipment I want to use and obviously trying to source the best deal as money is never as plentiful as you want it to be, especially when your trying to purchase your first house.

Haven't yet.
Wife's been 'blindsiding me' with last minute things when I've had the time.

Gonna try this 4-day weekend... hell may make it a 4.5 day weekend depening on what time we jump on Thursday.

I ran my power on one side of the wire harness tray and my RCA's on the other side down my passenger side for my SO sub. I get no interference at all.

I know all the rules of thumb but thought that having the harness tray and harness seperating the two would work and it did.
