Just an fyi, spooled is wrong about the sub amp and low level inputs. Low level vs high level has nothing to do with what speaker you are hooking up to the amp. It has to do with how the amp is getting its signal.

High level - speaker level inputs. Basically straight from your speaker wires right into the amp.

Low level - RCA inputs.

You always want to run power and rca on opposite sides if at all possible, no exceptions imo.

I would also suggest that if you ever have any inclination you may want to run a second amp at a later date, run the rca cables up front. That way you do not have to redo it all. RCA cables are cheap, well worth an extra $30-$40 on two more cables.

Dark- Sounds like a good idea. Any thoughts on the 1 HU RCA sub out split into 2 RCAs into the amp being necessary?

You will need a y adapter. Either run the y out of the head unit and then use a standard rca or run a single rca and then y at the amp.

If you hook up at the cd you will need single male, dual female. If you hook up at amp, single female, dual male. I know even walmart by me has them in the car audio section if you dont want to buy online or have a better local shop.

Not asking how to do it just wondering why. Question is more of how the amp works processing the signal. Since the amp will be bridged effectively combining the L & R input back into a single output. -Just inquisitive

Stupid question.... sorry.

But dont you have speaker cables running down both sides the truck to the doors?
I'm an idiot... I know, but this has been bothering me as I stare at my 2 Sound Ordanance 8PTs figuring out how I am going to Install them/run the power and RCA cables.

Raspberry Beret/ABN- Yes for my back speakers but I have a HU with a sub-out. I want to keep my door speakers powered by my HU. Read the sticky(even if you don't have an 04-08) about LOCs(Q16ish?), it might be what you need depending on if you have a stock HU or not.

Merty,
Thanks -
I'm using the Stock HU. I've got the FRD 1 (with pre amp out) allowing me to use all my SYNC crud. That part I'm ok with.. just in running the power to the subs (behind the back seat) I am at a loss on which side to run my power as wouldnt they interfere with which ever door speakers are run that side?

If you are running an amplifier to power stereo speakers do not use a dedicated sub out as the signal will be processed for low frequencies. Unless you have a signal processor to de-equalize the signal don't use it. Use a line driver that converts hi-level to lo-level, this is the best option as the line driver will increase the signal voltage and give you a good solid clean signal to the amplifiers... also will be a stereo signal.

Run the power down the right side of the vehicle and get your audio signal from the left side. I suggest to run the power down the right side beside it is extremely easy to enter the vehicle through an existing grommet in the firewall. You will need a basic power distribution block to split the power signal to both B8T's. Use the rear right speaker to retrieve an input signal for the B8T's.

It wont do anything to your speaker wire, you wont get interferance or anything.

Most systems I see in F-150s go down the passenger size, at least the 09+ guys.
