Amp help
Ok guys, since I have a regular cab and I'm not looking for a huge amount of base. I think I'm going with this enclosed sub from pioneer. It will fit and not take up all my room and give me all the bump I need.
I don't know a whole lot about subs and amps, besides what I have been reading online. So I am looking at an amp to power this unit. I know it is nominal 200 watts (RMS) and a peak of 800 watts. From what I have been reading it would be best to go with a 2 channel amp and bridge it. I read that mono amps go better with 2 ohms and this one is 4 ohms. Anyone have any suggestions on an amp that would go well with this? I have found a few but I am wondering what amps I should go with. I know you are supposed to match them if you can, but would a 500 or 600 watt amp work?

I would say find a 200rms/400 or more max 2 channel that is bridgeable. The reason I say "or more" is sometimes off brands will claim a higher max power rating. Typically your peak is double your RMS. While this isn't always true it seems to be the most common scenario.

And you could run this bridged

Or a 4channel. Can run two channels bridged for the sub and the other two for a set of components up front.

There's ther options just trying to keep in your price range. And don't listen to people saying a mono is better at one thing or yada yada. If an amp is rated to do X amount of power @ X ohms that's all that matters. You could run a 3000watt amp as long as it only does 200-300 watts at 4ohms.
