amp advice
Hey guys...do my audio is installed, my space is very limited in my regular cab, but I have 2 amps and a 12" sub in the space behind my seats, love the system but finished look isn't 'clean' at the moment. My amp boxes say to only mount horizontally, which really limits my options. I have seen many amps mounted vertically on the back wall of the cab, is this harmful or is it just specific to my amps?

To answer your original question, it does not hurt to mount the amps vertically. Just have some space between them and the back of the seat so the air can cool them off.

Depending on your amps heat sink location it could matter - if it's on one side ideally it should be mounted so heat sink is on top so heat is not dissipated across the internals.

I've had many Alpine X and M series. They look like Alpine MRP 50, and MRP 500's. The heat sink is the entire casting on top and and the two sides adjacent to the inputs.
But as Joe stated. Heat rises, so it is better to install amps so the heat sink is vertically the highest point. But since those amps have heat sinks on two sides, they are best mounted horizontally, so the heat sinks are on the left and right. Not top and bottom. This would mean, when you mount them; the inputs should be on the top and bottom and heat sink sides on the left and right.
In all reality, those amps aren't pulling that much power. So with the right air space keeping them cool shouldent be an issue. So mount them however they fit. Just make sure the top can breathe.
