Default Amp

I bought a used sony xm 444 amp and discovered that the rear channel produces bass only. I installed it per instructions and have the pioneer deck set properly and have made sure the HPF and LPF are set for 4 spkr configuration. Is there something wrong with the amp or did someone alter it to make it work this way? Any guesses?
