Default Alpine Type S speakers

Thinking about getting them for my 96 does anyone have a good review for these i hear good things i think it would make a HUGE difference in my truck over the stock speakers that are in there especially being from 96

Honestly, any speaker over the stock from a 96 would be a dramatic improvement! The technology has changed so much. What Head unit are you using? Aplines are a very well known and trusted brand, I prefer the kenwood speakers, i just put them in mine (see pics) and love them. But to answer your question, Yes alpine is a good brand. Check Crutchfield and other stores to look for reviews on the particular speaker.

I had the type-s's they are not that great but compared to what you have now it would be a huge step up. I had mine amped though so i dont know how they sound off the HU.

I have Type-S's in my Crown Vic daily driver. They are a 5x7 in the four stock locations and 2 Type-S 10" subs. All powered off of Amps. The 5x7's sound much better than stock and have good clarity, but they are lacking a little in mid-bass response - in my opinion. Plus, I think they are at the limits of the 4x75w RMS amp that are pushing them.

Next step will be separtes up front and go from there.

But as for an everyday upgrade running from the headunit power, the Type-S is a nice speaker and reasonable price. I like my Alpine stuff, personally!
