I used kickers in mine. Good speaker for $50 pair.

I run type R's in the rear, and they really don't come alive until you throw some power to them. 50rms+ and they are a great investment for the price. But unless your throw some power to them with an amp, you will see little difference between cheaper priced coaxs.

I just installed some type s coaxials last night and they sound amazing! But I still need to buy new HU and an amp too soon, to get the full effect of them lol. And the price was great, atleast for me, got all four for $110!

Ernie - do you plan to amp the speakers? Also are you coming from the stock HU (non-Sony)? I'm trying to do the same and just getting ideas.

For the poster that went with infinity kappas in all 4 doors, did you amp? Stock HU?

I'm looking to keep stock HU and replace 4 speakers and add amp for them. I do not have tweeter pillars, but am wanting to go components up front at least so will find a mounting place for them.

In my experience, Infinity has the best sounding mass marketed speakers available (I do indeed realize sound is highly subjective). The highs are bright, and the lows/mids are crystal clear. Match them properly with a good amp, and it is hard to beat. In my 06, I had Reference 6x8 components up front and reference 6x8 coax in the back, and it sounded phenomenal. I added a reference 10" sub to finish it.

For my '13, I have 6.5" Reference components for the front, 6x8 reference coax for the back, and a JL 360/4 amp to run them. I also have a Reference 1060W 10" sub with a JL 360/2 and an external electronic cross over, just because I've never had an amp that the built in cross over was sufficient to my ear. All I need now is wiring, a box for the sub, and to get back on land to install it. I'm currently sitting on a boat about 255 miles southeast of Houston in the Gulf, waiting on the weather to calm down and the wind to change direction, so we can do our final pull in to the TLP, then I'm headed home. Unfortunately, wind direction is not supposed to change till Thursday.

Brian. My system has not yet been installed as I am still waiting for pieces to show up but this is what it will be.

6.5 kappa components front and back
Kappa four 4 channel amp(this will give each speaker 150 rms)

Kicker crt 12 2ohm X 2
Kicker kx.1600 each speaker will get 800rms

HU will be the Kenwood excelon 890

Sxreens are the only radios that look good in the 09+ trucks Imo

Optima yellow top
250 amp alt upgrade
Big three upgrade to 0 gauge wire
0 gauge from the batter to the firewall where I will run a distribution to 4gauge to the amps.
