ADVICE.. Audio upgrade
I want to start off by saying I love this forum. There are a lot of nice people who want to help. With that being said I am planning on upgrading my audio system in my truck. I plan on doing the Big 3 myself. Below is the head unit and subwoofer I am planning on buying with income tax return. I would greatly appreciate advice on an amp and speakers to go in the front doors. I don't plan on upgrading the rear speakers as I have read that the front are the most important unless it is highly suggested. I am going to have all components installed by a professional shop. I have a budget of around $2000.

The built in crossovers in Pioneer 4100NEX will let you run the system active. I would look at a good 5 channel amp like Alpine PDX-V9.

For speakers, I would try to listen to different brands and decide yourself.

Kraken thanks for the suggested amp. Even though I am a firm believer in you get what you pay for that is a little steep even for me. My guess is that the majority of ones budget is spent on head unit and amp. I live in a small town that doesn't have a car audio shop so I would have to travel to the next town over to hear speakers and they are primarily a Memphis shop.

I have 50 watts per channel for the doors and 200 for a 10" sub. This systems doesn't sound bad, and it's way better than factory. I haven't decided on components, but my next set-up will be 100-150 watts per channel for the doors and 400-600 for the sub. I don't care about being loud, I just want really good sound. The system I have now just doesn't quite get me where I want to be.

Get Mid Range priced components for the front. Itll make a drastic sounding difference between them and coaxials.....

Thanks for all the suggestions. My truck is paid for and I love it. I bought it in 2006 and plan to drive it until the wheels fall off. So I want to do the audio system right. I am looking for the exact same thing as you jkenprice1. I am not interested in winning any audio contests I just want great interior sound. I travel 30 miles one way to work 5 days a week so a great sounding audio system would be a major plus.

Toddman24 please excuse my ignorance concerning car audio but component speakers would require installing tweeters and crossovers right? I found a set that would fit the front doors but would need to mount the tweeters and crossovers and I am not very good with that type of stuff. I see where they would provide superior sound over the coaxials though. I was planning on attempting the install myself with the help of a co-worker but if I go the components route it will require me to seek professional assistance. I am pretty mechanically inclined but not to that extent.
