It talks to the sub through the audio control point located under the center councle. It uses data to tell it when to turn off/ on. The audio control point is also what dictates how much power each speaker gets so you don't "blow" them.

TK5 I know where you are going at with this. I'll post pics of the sub later. The issue with the "sub" is it's not a normal sub. There are data cables going to it. But I will post pics so you can see for yourself.

Yep, that's what I was asking. Thanks.

Default 2012 advent problem

I installed the advent unit about a year ago. Mostly I like it. However when I use line in or blue tooth audio I have a problem with the passenger side speaker dropping out. I have checked every connection that I could find including the sync module and can't figure it out. It only happens with line in or blue tooth only and corrects itself when I hit pot holes. I have eliminated all other sources like xm and radio, it only happens with blue tooth and line in.

I am hoping some one tech davy could help me figure out the problem. I also have had no luck programing the sd card to bypass the agreement message.

Thanks in advance for all your help.

Hmmm, that is strange. It's obviously some kind of short but it has to be coming from the advent itself. If it was the truck it would be effected on all sound. Pull out your advent and unplug it. Look at the wires on the connections and make sure they are seated all the way in the housing. Then reconnect and see if that works.

I am not sure what year your truck is but here is a link to a TSB that could be your issue. http://www.gdmjoe.com/gothf150/docum...sb12-11-04.pdf

I've read in other posts that a dealership could give you issue if you are not stock though. You could also follow the TSB as a guide to see if you can remedy it yourself and make sure the contacts are clean and properly seated.

I would lean more toward an issue with the head unit since there are only problems with certain audio sources, not all sources.

Possibly but when switching audio sources a surge could go through and arc the gap to make it work. Since he has checked all wiring at the HU level, it's time to dig deeper.

For the record, I've had this exact issue when I was stock. Reseating the connector fixed it.

I had the issue as well, I ended up changing the whole harness in my '11.

OP, does adjusting volume return the audio signal?
