I'd recommend figuring out a way to use the factory amp instead of bypassing it with bargain bin equipment.

Yes but why? Don't downgrade your system with inferior product.

Are these the same Pro's that also said that they could sell you an amp/sub combo that would work for a couple hundred bucks?

Remember, stereo shops are like any other business, if they don't sell you anything then they don't stay in business.

Most people call it 700W when they try to sell it; but I've never actually seen it, so I can't say for sure.

Ok you can't trigger the factory amp with the Advent. However there are systems out there that do. I personally though Advent had the most to offer and looked the most stock. What you can't to is trigger the stock sub with an aftermarket amp. Reason being is there is no way to connect the RCA cables. So easy and cheap fix I did was replace the amp and sub. Did my for a little over $120. Mainly because of the wiring harness and what not. That being said it is amazing and works like a champ.

The system is a "700" watt but it's puts out about half that. Also I didn't buy anything from them but the harness because I was to impatient to wait for it to be mailed to me. I am cheap and bought used equipment. Works great for me but I'm also not wanting to alert the upcoming block that I'm coming. Lol

There is no way to use the stock amp with the advent. Reason why is it is not just an amp. It's also a computer that micromanages the speakers so you don't blow them. That computer can only be used with certain softare. Software the Advent does not have. I hope that answers your question.

How does the factory HU talk to the factory subwoofer amp for the audio signal? RCA, speaker level, canbus? What about the remote turn on lead?

If you can take the stock sub out, look on the back of the magnet. It should be stamped with a nominal power rating & ohm rating. also let me know if it is a single or dual voice coil configuration and then I could recommend an aftermarket amp. Post up a couple pics if you could of what the sub looks like out of its enclosure.
