I still use sync for my mp3s and phone calls as I like using the voice commands for my playlists etc.
Using sync and steering wheel controls were the reasons I have held off on upgrading this long. I wanted a PNP install. No splicing or programming. After talking to Walt and watching several of his Youtubes I took the plunge. I too am using Polks. MM6501 front, db571 rear. But my sub is a Kicker. Question for you Zyvin. Does the Advent have a remote trigger wire for the sub?

I have had Advent home speakers for over 20 years. Had to replace the foam rubber surround but they are still putting out great sound.

I posted this elsewhere, but thought it would be nice to share with you guys too - you may spend some more $$$ on Amazon, but I think you'll like it (ESPECIALLY using the 8" screen on the Advent...):

If you want the most bang for the buck you can get from spending under $100 on your vehicle's entertainment system, order a WDTV Live Media Player (WDBHG70000NBK - $65 for a refurbed unit on Amazon), connect it via the built-in wireless to the hotpspot on your iPhone or other mobile hotspot, download the WD Remote app, then you'll be able to control the WDTV with your phone (or with a mobile hotspot, from an iPod Touch)!

What this means is that now you can hide the box completely (under a seat, in the glove box, etc) and not have to worry about having line-of-sight access for the remote - it's done via wi-fi. You can hook two USB sticks or hard drives to it, as well as access YouTube, Netflix and even Slingbox (watch the video!) from the WDTV.

It's badass:

Tallyman, the unit does have a remote out for amps etc, although I use the add a fuse method off the fuseblock behind the passenger side kick panel. I am not sure of the # maybe 38, it is basically an accessory empty fuse slot for the audio system and works very well. I got that idea from some other audio links on this forum. The Advent does have a dedicated sub RCA out as well as subwoofer level and three adjustable crossover points but I use the crossover on my amp and have a JL bass control **** on my dash panel next to the dimmer switch.

Here are a few images of how the display looks under various conditions. When using sync you can see that the same info shows on the display and the upper display. The touch screen will advance, scroll, add blue tooth, settings, etc. all of that is accessable from the touch screen which most aftermarket units will not do. IE pairing a new phone etc withouth having to get out your old rado controls. As you can see the album art shows when I have it on IPOD through the advent usb port and not the sync. I do not think it is possible to show album art on the advent while using sync and I think that is a limitation of the sync not the advent. But I do like that I can turn the screen off completely and still use the upper display for sync. There are many combinations on how to use everything, but I have mine pretty simple. I use sync for usb music and my phone and I use the sync for bluetooth streaming, pandora etc, radio, xm, and the rest. I also have the usb mod 2 on the sync and have a 320gb harddrive mounted to the back of my glovebox for when I desire to hear something odd..lol..Anyway, the last pic is where I used picture wire to make hooks to release the rear seats on the crew cab. It is very convienent when tuning amps or installing etc.

Zyvin.....my order arrived yesterday. Now to find time to install it all. Also order the SAT receiver and the backup camera. Question for you. You did not install the Advent mic? You are using the factory mic for Sync and the phone? Thanks

Tally, I never installed the mic on the advent at all.....I use sync for the telephone..I did pair my phone with the advent for bluetooth music just to see if it worked and it worked great. I have no issues with my phone on sync so I didnt see any reason to use the advent for phone calls..I assume you could use both if you wanted but I just figured that is one less cable i have to route and I dont have to have a visable mic anywhere.

Can you run Pandora through sync like before and use steering wheel controls to thumb up or down extc?

I have not installed mine yet. Trying to recover from moving. There are several youtube videos on the install. I watched them before placing the order.

The install took me a couple of hours but mainly cause I was running new RCA's etc back to my amp. It is pretty straight forward, nothing hard about it at all. Pandora for my phone works just like the factory unit through sync, basically just says bluetooth audio and the steering wheel controls let you skip forward etc. As the videos show, if you use the iphone and use the advents iphone cable you will get touch screen controls on the advent and album art etc but I am a droid man, so I just use it through sync just as I did with the factory system.
