Adding 2 8" subs in custom box to 2009 screw. Need help with amp install

So the only way to put in subs for the new 09s is to connect to the speaker wires? I thought that was lower quality sound though. And it doesn't seem like you can get an aftermarket radio for the 09s.

Car Audio Junkie
NO NO NO NO NO!!!
that will put hpf into your subs which will kill them very fast, not to mention the power is ridiculously low and will cause you to clip it to hell and gone trying to get that much more power out of it, get yourself a LOC (line output converter) and call it a day...many people have loud stereo's on stock deck

If you are going to run off the factory system, get an MTX Re-Q or the JL Audio CleenSweep, run from speakers level to the Re-Q, and from there to a 2 channel or Mono amp (designed for subs) and run the subs from the amp. 4 ohm subs run off one channel create a 2ohm load, so be sure to ask the shop where you buy the gear if thats okay, they'll point you inthe right direction for the proper sub / amp combo.
Once I get my 8W7 added to my 09 Crew (small sealed box mounted in beside the factory sub, in addition to the factory sub to add more of a sharp punch to music, and taking up very little space for such a big boom), I'll post pics up. MIght be awhile yet though...lol

Just a little more info for you, it's the amp, not the subs that has channels, subs have voice coils and Ohms.

Agreed, but even on higher end amps with the built in the quality is pretty 'rough'. Not bad, but I'm not that fussy and I notice...(although I used to be fussy.....then I realized how much it cost to be fussy..lol). If you can get a Re-Q or CleanSweep for a decent price it helps alot. My opinion of course....a deck with preouts is still best, but I really like Sync and just leaving the dash styling alone.
***So i finally tore out the OEM Sony sub and amp, had a look....wow. Easy peasy! Everything is right there for adding a line level processor, then on to a larger amp and more subs! All the wiring for power ground etc is right there at the harness....AWESOME!!! I'm used to OEM stuff being hidden or hard to understand, this is pretty basic by comparison.

1. Best way to get power wire through the firewall? little garment underneath the steering wheel
2. Any problem with ground going to front seat bolts? no make sure you sand it down first though
3. Best place to connect remote lead wire? to the back of the head unit...
4. If I tie into the factory speaker wires in the rear doors, does anyone know what color they are? dont do that get a loc u still need rcas for the amp anyways....

Not yet....as seen in another thread the truck I had when I posted that is now gone-bye bye-adios - stolen......haven't had the new truck for more than a couple days, and getting the audio stuff done is the least of my worries right now...security first, then maybe the audio....but once we start monkeying around with wires I'm sure the line level and remote wires are there, just run a larger posewr ground from the battery to the amp (or cap).
