Default 2016 SCrew 6x9 or 6.75 for front doors

I am getting ready to upgrade the non Sony system in 16 SCrew. I am adding the Kicker Hideaway sub and Polk DB series in the doors and dash (no amp for now). I am trying to decide between the 6x9 or the 6.75 for the front door. The adapter is available for either but the 6.75 are about $40 less. I have never been a big fan of 6x9 speakers, but some say that they will produce better bass than the 6.75. With adding the Kicker, I would think that would not be an issue, but perhaps mid bass? Not looking for a really loud or thumping system, just cleaner than the factory. I would not mind saving a little cash since my wife is already questioning why I am spending this money on a brand new truck, but if the 6x9 are going to be noticeably better it is worth it. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks!

Since you are planning to upgrade the sub you are better off with 6.75 inch speakers. From my experience and others in the forum upgrading the door speakers with co-axials makes the sound bright. I think upgrading to some midbass speakers instead of co-axials would be better option.

Something like this:

Just pulled the trigger. Decided to go with the DB651s (6.75" shallow mount) speakers for both doors. The shallow mount were a little more, but Crutchfield says that the standard depth speakers will not fit. That seems to be confirmed by a few posters here that installed the shallow. Decided to hold off on replacing the dash speaker for now. Will install everything else and then decide if it needs to be replaced. From what I have read, it does some fill, but seems mostly for voice command response. Going to have a local shop install the Kicker Hideaway for me, I really hate crawling around under the dash fishing wires through the firewall. Only charging me about $100 so worth it to me.

They have been delivered, but they won't be installed until this Sunday. I have started a new post to document my entire system upgrade including the Kicker Hideaway as well as the DB651s's. Here is a link to it, if you are interested.
