Hey guys here's a question. Has anyone found an "OEM" head-unit upgrade for a 2016 (base model unit) to The SYNC 3? Picture of what I mean...

Is their a kit you can buy to convert from base to upgraded?

Theres from time to time, 8" screen with Nav, and Non Nav apims for sale. Then all youll need is a oem Bezel to fit around the 8" screen! Its all Plug N Play.

Probably run yah about a Grand! But, honestly, thats a Good price!

The new APIM, will need to be programmed to your truck, but thats not a big deal... The apim, mounts to the rear of the 8" touchscreen.

I had someone quote me $2400 for a 4'' to 8'' SYNC 3 upgrade with NAV. I was blown away how much it was. Said something about having to program the APIM or something.

What is involved in programming it to your truck?

Also, I was told there was something about a harness that would be needed as well.

5 minutes, depends if your adding backup cam too. But should be straight plug n play.

I have backup camera already, so would need that to work obviously. I am worried about the harness. The guy who quoted me said he wouldn't sell it separately.

Just noticed you have a XL! You dont have Sync 3 do you?

Nope, just SYNC 4'' screen. My mustang has SYNC 3. Wanted to do the conversion on my truck, if I can get everything and not get robbed.

Still think $2400 for APIM/bezel/screen/plug and play harness is a bit much imo.

You should only need to move around a few wires in your harness, to your apim. 2400, is high. 1200, is the most Id pay.. Keep a eye out on the forum classifieds, and ebay.
