Unless you are using a processor, the tweeters in any coaxials won't be much good, according to the stereo shop I have been talking to. According to them "The only issue that people do not realize is that the factory amplifier is crossovered and only sends a midbass signal to the door speakers." I don't know this for a fact, just what they have told me, but this shop has done several installs on these trucks.

I've heard that might be true with the Sony systems but I haven't been able to confirm that. What I have heard for the non-sony is that the same wire from the amp feeds the tweeter (with a cap) and the woofer in the door. If this is the case then it should be getting a full range signal.
And will be installing this little amp as well. Hoping I'll have time to get it all done at the same time.

This may be right. The new speakers don't give a whole lot more treble but they improve the overall sound quality. Not to say they don't give any increase in treble but in my 13 when the speakers were 6x8 I noticed better highs in the 2 way infinity speakers I put it. Maybe this is the difference between 2 way and 3 way? They do give better mids, cleaner sound and cleaner bass but if you're putting in an amp you're gonna get far better sound than me. I didn't want to mess with getting behind the stereo and such to hook one up but I think you'll be happy with speakers for the price. I still want some new column tweets though because no doubt anything after market will sound better. Oh and I also cut and spliced the wires with connectors rather than solder. You can see my connection in the last picture on the OP.
Actually getting behind the stereo is pretty simple compared to earlier models, and I'm going to splice the parrot harness to the little Alpine amp before I even start anything, so once I pull the front cover off, all I have to do is plug it in right between the existing harness and the radio. (And run the hot lead and remote turn on just like my amp.) Should be pretty simple.
I'm actually dreading the speaker replacement more, since pulling the door panels off seems harder than the radio cover!

I've seen the amp mounted behind the rear seats, but I thought that only went to the subwoofer. I guess the Sony system sucks more than I thought. I liked the Bose in my Silverado much better!
