I don't see this. I know i do not have a sony system.
I only see two wires to woofer and when I disconnect, the tweeter still works.
I am doing JL Separates and mounting crossover on the door and would rather not run new wire to the tweeter...

Yes, I believe it splits at the door connector (body side obviously), I will try to take a look at the wiring diagrams and verify if anyone would like to know for sure.

I guess an alternative would be mount my crossovers for the front speakers in the console behind the radio(is there room?) and I could run new wires for the tweeters(much easier alternative).
I had overlooked that the tweeters in 1Chads's install were in the door triangle area.
thoughts, anyone?

Hey scotto,
I took a look at the wiring diagrams and the tweeter wiring branches at the door connector.

Keep in mind on axis vs off axis...You need to refer to your speaker's info for which you need to follow. The tweeters in our trucks are mounted off axis....if this helps. Something else to keep in mind...though it is quite easy, as previously mentioned, to just use the wiring already in our truck...if you are going to be installing an amp with greater than 120wrms, consider the gauge of the wire needed so that there is no loss of power transmission to the speakers from the amp. iirc the wires in our audio system is 18ga, maybe 16ga... you will def want to use 16ga or larger (im using 14ga). Too small of a wire, power or speaker wire, and things will degrade and heat up a bit. Its a pain running new speaker wire but remember that the factory stuff is very basic and there just so that the factory speakers play. lol. Play nice with your install the 1st time and it will play nice back in return for you!.

So, is the tweeter wire in the door side of the connector or is it located in the cab side of the connector?

If it is inside the cab side of the door connector, I suppose one could splice into the door speaker wires and run wire up to the tweeters if mounting them in the plastic 'triangle' at the top front of the door panel. That would keep the tweeter wire inside the door.

The crossover I have for my tweeters is small enough to mount inside the door triangle with double sided tape so the tweeters would get the signal feed off of the door speaker but, you would still have to disconnect the factory tweeters.

Do you know what color the wires are for the tweeters at the door connector?

Great, do you know where this connector is located?

Thanks for your help!
