SO with those adapters I can just buy 6 1/2 component set from my front door? Mount the tweeters in those holes you made and all set? What happens to the stock tweeters in their location? Is there a separate cable/signal independent of the front door speaker that runs to them?

That is what it looks like. To disconnect the tweeters just pull the A pillars off. It's easy as there are only 2 bolts holding it on right there at the grab handles.

Honestly tho, you'd be better off using the stock locations. This will help with imaging and tweeters are so directional, having them mounted off axis down in the doors is kinda self defeating.

yea that's what I was thinking. Weird. Anyway thanks for the suggestion/confirmation. Prob just go with a high sensitivity rated component 6.5 set in front n 2/3 way 6.5 in rear

I'd also like to know this. All I'm looking to do is replace my factory head unit & factory speakers. Is an amp necessary w/ this application ?

So basically be careful not to buy a 3 way or 2 way 6x9 or 6 1/2" for the front door. Your best bet would be to purchase a component set so the midbass driver would be best suited for the door and the tweeter would replace the factory tweeter.
The tweeters are crossed over at 3500 by a capacitor inline with the door speaker unless you have a Sony system. Then all the speakers are crossed over at the Sony amp.

Default On the upgrade for speakers in the 2015 to 2017 F1 50 lariat working ranch platinum o

On the upgrade for speakers in the 2015 to 2017 F1 50 lariat working ranch platinum or limited!
The front door speakers are 5 x 7's and 6 1/2 round speakers in the back door
The old way that upgrading your speakers will really do you any good is to change them all out and add a couple of good amplifiers!

I went with JL audio C5-570 component speaker sets in the front and back doors and a JL audio still bought under the backseat and of course were the factory subwoofer was is where the amps went!
Went with the jL audio XD600/1v2 600 W sub stealth box and a JL audio XD800/8v2: 8 Ch. Class D Full-Range Amplifier, 800 W amp on the four doors!
So there is 200 W per door and 600 W on the sub and it sounds incredible!
I hope this helps you out in someway!

Default I am looking to replace my head unit too

Alpine I am told is working on a re-design kit for the 2015 through 18 Ford F150's
Or there is a pretty cool upgrade kit on eBay 2015 - UP FORD F-150 DASH KIT WITH INTERGRATED HVAC / SWC CONTROL TOUCH SCREEN
Unfortunately it does not work with vehicles with Ford sync system!
But the kit does allow you to put a double din touchscreen head unit into your truck and hopefully Alpine will come out with A head unit soon with my ford integrated into the head unit

They put my tweeters into the a pillar's from the front doors!
It's too bad that I don't really have a way to record my stereo playing so anyone could actually hear what it really sounds like!
If you get into my truck you don't see anything that is not factory other than the JL audio stealth box under the backseat and to the right of the steering wheel there is a separate volume control dial for the sub woofer!
It sounds incredible compared to how it did sound!
But I am still looking forward to changing the head unit out with one of the Alpine units when they get them available!

I hate to bring up an old thread but this thread is spot on for what I am doing right now. I have a 2015 SuperCrew F150 with the 8" SYNC head unit. This is my first post on this forum so don't feed me to the wolves! I have been lurking these forums for a while but finally decided to chime in. I purchased some Infinity Kappa 93ix for my front doors. These speakers are amazing if you amplify them, but are lack luster from the 8" SYNC head unit. (I did expect this going into this but wanted to check before purchasing an amplifier)

I am now purchasing an Audio Control LC7i and a Rockville DB55 amplifier. My plan is to run 2 JL Audio 10w3s under the rear seat down firing (if I can get the box to fit, I should know that this afternoon) and putting some JBL Club 625SQ 6.5" in the rear doors. I'll check back on this forum later and send an update after the rest of the stuff arrives. Thanks guys.
