Just install them and find out and report back. It's a 1 hour install of the speakers... it *will* work, but is likely to not put out the volume you'd expect due to the power. I tried the new 6x9's without the amp just to see... worked fine, but quiet. Soon as I patched in the amp it was night and day better.

Since analysis of stereo sound is mostly subjective, what do you mean by "quiet"? And how much less volume would you estimate, since I am simply looking for better clarity of sound and not so much volume. The most that I turn up the factory head unit is about 1/3 max volume according to the touch screen! Thanks again for your help!

What an amp will do is give you more clarity (with a good speaker. not factory) because it isn't being driven by an under powered factory HU. Some of the same can be done by installing a higher efficiency speaker but you will achieve optimal sound with a quality speaker and an amp.

I install the upgraded speakers first and then judge if the amp is needed. Also there really isn't any "minimum " required wattage for a speaker.

Hi Everyone,

I just installed Kicker VSS PF150SC15 on my 2015 XLT with an 8” screen. The sound is greatly improved, but I feel like it is still somewhat muddy - lacking separation / definition. Is there a speaker and or bracket kit that does not require drilling into door metal like the Kicker “K-15F150-1” speaker kit does?

Thanks.

The K-15F150-1 is a direct replacement for a 2015 and should not need any "drilling". Just 4 screws per speaker.

I stand corrected. I wouldn't install speakers the way the video shows. Half assed if you ask me.

It appears that they factory speaker can be removed from the adapter.

Hey guys. I'm here to talk about the Polk speakers. I've had them in 3 different cars and they are amazing. The thing about Polks are that they have to have the power that's recommended. Without the recommended wattage they sound mushy and dull. You can't just hook them up to the factory head unit expect them to be good.

I plan on installing them into my super crew sometime within the next year. Hopefully Santa will bring me a lc7i , amp and speakers for Christmas.

So let me get this straight, it looked like they installed a replacement 6x9 in the front door that left a huge gap. I have some 6x8s that came in the kicker powerstage kit. I was thinking of just jury rigging em in but seeing how much of space is left when the supposedly correct replacement is put in, that has me a little worried.
