But I bet your Alpines sound clearer with better highs. That is why you need to add a sub for the lows.

They do, but it's kind of irrelevant as I have the a-pillar tweeters and they sound great. I was hoping the Alpines would have more, not less, low-end than the factory speakers.

I probably wouldn't have even replaced them till I figured out the wiring harness situation, if the driver's side door speaker hadn't started making weird noises.

Drivers door is a common problem with moisture getting in the connections

I just bought the complete system from Fairway Ford in Ohio for $600. They said Ford ordered a lot more of those systems thn are selling, so the price is coming down. I have the base radio. I saw the system for the 4.2" or 8" mytouch for $500 someplace. Don't remember where.

I just bought the complete system from Fairway Ford in Ohio for $600. The said Ford overbought, or undersold the kicker stuff, and some of the dealers are really lowering the prices. I got part #BL3Z18808H for the non mytouch radio. I saw the one for the mytouch for $500 someplace, forget where. $1200 made me pause, but $600 is kind of a no brainer

Nope, look on Ebay! Substage is 260.00 to 275.00 depending on scab or screw! The entire substage amp dsp can be found on ebay or amazon forr 600.00 or less....

Default Kicker VSS

I have a 2013 Platinum with the Sony upgraded system. I would like to upgrade the sub and the Kicker VSS system seems like it may be a reasonable approach but in the description of the unit it specifies that it is not for the Sony sub system I have. I assume a new power lead needs to be run and everything else comes from the stock connector plug? I've already replaced all the door speakers with Infinity Reference models and that was a huge improvement. Now I'd just like to get more out of the sub. Granted, the system will never be what I am used to since my former vehicles had complete system renovations but my system is getting better.

The Kicker Substage will work on the Sony Stereo, hooks up the same as any other ford stereo?

I'm pretty good with browsing eBay and finding things... Cannot for the life of me find one even close to that price. Could you DM me the seller or maybe a link to that kind of deal?
