Default '06 Lariat Steering Wheel Controls

So I've read through quite a lot of the posts in this forum and searching gleaned no useable information for me. I replaced my radio with a Shaker500 unit so that I could add the factory sub (wiring was already there, just missing the correct head unit and sub). I have read through the forum that the dealership will have to program the radio to be able to use the steering wheel control again but when I talked to the service writer about it he looked at me like I had lobsters crawling out of my ears and basically said he's never heard of such a thing. Fargo, ND is not that small of a city and Luther Ford should have someone with enough knowledge or experience to set this up. I was hoping that someone could tell me exactly what to ask for when I go back there. I still have the old head unit if there is any information they would need off that one... and I am looking to sell it if anyone is interested (pristine condition, no scratches, 6 disc mp3, just not audiophile with plugin for sub)...

Any information offered is greatly appreciated.

I'd actually never heard of a factory radio needing to be re-programmed, but after a quick search it sounds like that's the case. Your best bet is probably to get in touch with Ford directly and when you find someone who can say 100% for sure, just have them email you or the dealership exactly what you need done. Heaven forbid a service rep might not know everything about every vehicle
