I agree budman. That's why I am waiting to see what Advent comes up with and the cost for that.

HU must be mounted lower for the Metra kit. The 4.3 screen retains functions for the Sync and other stuff. I'm not sure why they didn't lower the 4.3 screen to the bottom and leave the HU up high, there is enough room in the dash.

Yep installer finished with the Metra Kit last week and after driving with it for a week I'm over it. The look of it is extremely basic and just doesn't appear fitting with the rest of the sharp looking truck displays. I guess it wouldn't be so horrible if the SYNC screen could go on the bottom and whatever head unit you want to install able to go up top. The Pioneer AVIC unit I went with sits way to low on the center console. Somebody would have to lay in my lap if they wanted to watch a DVD. The factory dash kit looks SO much better. I wish I would have done my research on this before buying my 2013 XLT. There is simply not another option in dash right now. I'm having an installer take all of it out and going with an Advent rear view mirror option for now until there's a better console option out there. Attached photo of finished job.

With a center console shifter you wouldn't be able to use that! I have to go around mine to hit the AC and heated seats.

Thats a bummer, anyone want to sell their aftermarket HU? Looking for one to put in the Cobra.

Contacted Metra and indeed, they packaged the wrong bracket in the kit. They are sending me the correct one.

I too am disappointed at the mounting spot. I bought my 13 in Dec, so I just assumed that a kit would be out quickly and it would be mounted up top. Sync Services directions are OK at best and I miss my Navigation screen. Had I known, I would have bought a Lariat with Nav.

Yep. Sits WAY to low. Not worth it and yes I wish I would have gone Lariat with Nav as well. I just assumed that there would be something good out there. After all it's the most popular truck in America and has been forever. Why would there only be one kit for it after a year and half on the market. SMH.

Glad I nixed the buy on ebay, didnt like how low it sat, plus it was like $500 after you bought all the harnesses and crap needed, not including the aftermarket HU. No thanks, i'll go with OEM integration via a JL Cleansweep in the meantime till a good kit gets released.

Metra sent the proper mounting brackets and the HU fits great. The dash kit is pretty nice. It has soft touch and looks "factory" as far as finish. The replacement HVAC controls are decent, but I was hope to retain the stock ***** as I thought they looked better. The LCD screen does make it seem like it is nicer than manual controls. While the location is low, it is no lower than the kit I had in my Chevy Avalanche.

Based on the way it is made and the room in the Ford dash, the HU could easily be moved up to the top and the 4.3" screen and HVAC controls to the bottom. That would make it look nicer, be more functional and make more sense. Maybe one day.

I like having my Nav map and DVD a lot more than the Sync directions through Sync services, that part is for sure.
