Interesting. If you could look up that seller that would be great as a plan B. I too have read nothing but good things about the reference ones.
Yeah I was not pleased, I bought Sony xplodes from Wallyworld back in 05 that IMO sounded better. The infinitys were loud, but had so much distortion, even at 50% volume. I was skipping every other song.
Plus Seeings as I payed 120$ for 2 pair, then found the kappas for only $30 more shipped (amazon, I'll look up the seller if your interested) I figured what the hell. I am 10x happier. Can't wait to give them the power they crave.
Everyone review and every person I talked to had nothing but good things to say about the reference, maybe I was just unlucky.
Sorry to hijack OP

Well, I tried the 6832cf's . Installed them yesterday. I would say its about 10% better and I am still very disappointed with this system. I really dont think its all the speakers fault. I am going to investigate a different sub and amp. Its just lacking low end and sounds underpowered.
I have the factory upgraded 700w system as well.

Anyone here done the upgrade to aftermarket amp and speakers? I have a 13 with nav but not Sony and can't find any info on radio removal. I am told the factory amp is back there. I need to get to the output of it to install my audio control LC7

I did the full upgrade...PITA. New Focals all the way around, Alpine PDX V9, two Excelon 12s, AudioControl LC8i. After a lot of tuning I finally got it sounding decent. Seems to me that the weakest point in the whole system is the one that you can't cut out...the factory amp. The built in DSP sucks. I had to sum my tweets and fronts together. The rears sound muddy. Just a mess, not to mention having to run 8 sets of speaker wire to and from the center console.

I have a 10 SCREW with the Sony upgrade and it sounded as good stock as my friends BMW 3 series with the upgrade system in it. I'll admit that it wasn't enough for my taste so I put a Pioneer navigation system and an Audiobahn 12 with a 1000 watt boss amp. My truck sounds great. The factory speakers very rarely distort. I think that the factory head unit is the weak link.

I agree the Sony system sucks. I have it on my '12. It bought me time because the non-sony is even worse but at least the Sony comes with tweeter mounts in the pillars.
I am planning to swap it all out just like I did on my Mustang. I generally use Boston Acoustics component systems and then something like JL aud for the sub. What I havent decided is if I want to try and rip the Sony sub out or just put a box underneath the other back seats. I think I will rp it out and add a 4 channel and mono amp, sound processor and associated speakers. Should do the trick coupled with some sound dampening.
I would rather not nuke the factory head unit because of the rear camera and back up lines.
