Doubtful you blew out any speakers. Check your connections and fuses

All the fuses in the passenger side kick panel appear to be working, next I'll check the fuse on the parrot harness, if it's blown I'll replace it with a bigger fuse. If it's not blown, check all wiring again. It sucks having to take everything apart again.

Never replace a fuse with a larger fuse, unless you want to risk your wires burning up. They're sized the way they are for a reason.

Honestly, I would do it simply to leave the factory wiring un-molested. Even taps leave scars.

That's the idea, plus if I ever go to trade it in, it'll be that much quicker and easier to remove everything.

Great thread, I've been following with interest. I'lel probably end up building Rnlcomp's harness...thanks for your work on that. First I want to try and find a part number for the contacts in the plug to the head unit. An even cheaper and cleaner easy way to do it would be just remove the 8 contacts for the speaker writes and stow them. Then put new contacts on the wires to your amp or LOC, whichever route you're going, and install them in the vacated slots. At least for those of us that plan on running new speaker wire.

Also, as someone mentioned earlier, a part number for the larger gage contacts in the Molex door connector would be great. I'm going to hit up the dealer to see if I can get the p/n for both parts of that connector. Does anyone already have it, or access to it?

Ok, talked to Metra, they don't sell just the contacts, nor could they supply me with a p/n. You car audio gurus probably knew that. I'm in avionics....it's Bizarre to me not to be able to buy connector contacts.

Plan B, buy a 70-5524, cannibalize 8 contacts with the pigtails, and splice them to the harness going to my LOC. Remove and tie back the 8 speaker writes from the factory HU plug, install the new LOC harness in it's place. No extra connectors, no factory wires molested, one connector to buy for parts.

The parrot harness has a 3 amp fuse in it, I cut the fuse holder out of the harness, the factory wire is fused and the alpine amp is fused also.

I would think they put the fuse in for a reason?
