Question about the LC2...
You have to run the speaker level inputs to it, along with the power and ground and it gives you the remote turn on for the amp, correct? Where did you get to the speaker wires at? Are they located in the door channel, or do you have to remove the speaker and get to the back of them? Also, did you run a separate wire to power the unit, or did you just branch off one of the wires that you had running to your amp?
I'm about to do a sub install myself, and in the past I've used the pac frd24 but these dsp's have caught my interest.

Just for clarification - the LC2s are not dsp's and are simply high level input to rca converters that increase output voltage. The LCQs are the same but with some basic equalization capabilities. There is no "processing" going on as neither of these devices have a processor.

I just purchased a 2012 Fx4 Scab and miss my 2011 F250 sony sub. I knew my truck had good stock bass but actually never knew where it came from. I thought that box was for the heated/cooled seats. At first, I thought it was perhaps storage. My new F150 has 0 bass. It does not have the sony sub. Does that mean I need an amp too? I surely don't wan't an aftermarket stereo. Anyone recommend a modest $ to achieve bass? I am very mechanically inclined however, not eletrically I'm afraid. Would appreciate any input.
To the OP: seems like a lot of interest in this post - perhaps a detailed step by step for all to benefit. JMO
My Q: Will I need an amp to acieve bass? I have the stock FX lux pkg 6cd. Or can I copy you too??? Assuming I knew what I was doing. I'm afaraid American TV will be the only way I will get Bass.

I wouldn't mind a step by step too as I have never tied into the factory wiring before. I usually install a full aftermarket system. I currently have the upgraded Sony system with navigation and subwoofer, but would like to added 1 or 2 better subs. Other than that I switched out the speakers and no complaints so far.

I posted this a while back but it got lost in the shuffle, or no one found it helpful. Give it a shot.

Thank you etazeta for the information, and the inspiration for this project.
Here are a few pics of my install in a 2011 F150 XLT 4x4 Screw.
I ran one power wire to the back, and used a power distribution block.
I mounted the fuses, and the block to a piece of mdf in the center.
I used a RJ14 phone jack to splice the remote level for each sub to one controller.
I mounted the remote level to the right of the usb port in the dash.
Everything sounds great, and the subs fill the cab with plenty of bass. Thanks again.
