Default 2011 supercrew subwoofer install questions

Hey I am wondering if anyone can help me figure out what the biggest subwoofer and enclosure combo I can go with for under the rear seat and with a seat lift. Sealed and or ported I don't know which is best or possible for size and location. I want to know if I can get full size 12" subs under the rear seat. Which would be mounting depths from 7" and up. Can I build a box that will fit a 9" mounting depth sub, roughly like the alpine type x? Either down or forward firing. I want a lot of bass but under the seat... I have looked at supercrew sounds enclosure with the 2.5" seat lift and that doesnt seem big enough and looks like I could fit the shape a bit better. Bassically want 2 type x subs and I'm thinking ported because I want lots of low loud bass as I listen to hiphop/metal/dubstep. Lots of long low bass notes. But I can't make a decision on my build until I know how big of a box I can build and what fits it in and what suits the box best either ported or sealed. Frustrating... haha.

I am going to post this in the 2009-present section and another forum as I'm not sure where to post my question to get a response. Delete whichever post you see fit as I am not trying to spam.

Again thanks ahead of time!

Check out my post 57 in this thread, may give you some ideas.

I have a single pioneer shallow mount in a sealed box right at .62cuft. It was a tight fit to keep it under the seat but it works great and hits hard.

I really need to demo subs to be able to say this but I don't think I will be satisfied with shallow mount subs. I've had 2 10" kenwood in a sealed box at 300 rms each and it wasnt enough bass for me haha. Good job on the box you made though, I checked it out

thanks that was my first one, it was fun to make. I hear what your saying about demos. I was able to hear the pioneer in action at a shop up the street and was sold on the shallows. for the cash, it was a good fit for me. I came from 2 regular JL 12s in my old explorer and I have no regrets with this single 12. I've got 350rms going at it now. good luck with your build!

By adding 2.5" to the measurements I have from a regular box build, I get ~2.9 ft^3 gross. That's plenty for a single 15 sealed, pair of 12s sealed, 4 10s sealed, 4 8s ported, pair of 10s ported, and MAYBE a pair of 12s ported (depending on the subs).

Of course, the most accurate way to find out would be to install the seat lift and then measure.

hey... just had to add my 2 cents.. I have a 2010 Super Crew... I was just like you , and did not think the "shallow mount" subs were for me.. So I looked and looked for different options.. I found a place called LMI Welding in Montana who makes seat lift kits for our trucks.. 2" lift, and that was all I needed.. I have ONE 12" Kicker Solobarick L7 (dual 4 voice coils) with an OLD Alpine MRD M1000... plenty of BASS.. plenty... but then again, I don't care if the people on the other street hear me.. the box takes up the entire length and width of the space under the seat... good luck..

Yeah I am wondering if 1 ported 12 would be better so it has the air space. I have a buddy who could make me some brackets for a seat lift so I can go from 2-3". I'm not sure what my maximum hight to lift would be bit I think over 3 would be too much. You got 2.9 ft with a lift, is that including room for the sub to move? Not sure but I think I'd have to down fire a 12 but I could forward fire 10's. I'm thinking a 12 is going to give me more of the hiphop bass i am looking for over 10's or 8's. Thanks for the info everyone. It's helping me figure things out a bit

That 12" solo L7 is just under 7" mounting depth. Most of the 12" subs i've been looking at are over 7". Like I said I can get the supercrew sounds box that has a 7" mounting depth and 2.5" lift kit for 320. I'm thinking I or someone can build a box tighter forming to get the most out of the space. Man I don't know what I can or want to do haha. Going to fab up a bracket on the weekend I think. Til then more sub and box research...
