How would adding an amp to the door speakers have anything to do with the sync!?!?! Sync works with the mic and the source unit, how could that have anything to do with the speakers??

Sync is pushed to the front door speakers. It requires a specific harness configuration or you lose Sync capabilities.

I understand that the Sync "talks" through the front speakers but I don't see how amping the signal would effect this. Example, use a PAC unit to get the RCA outs and then hook up the speaker wire back into the PAC wiring sending the signal out the stock wires. No change except more power. Thats my plan. But running new wires from the amp to the speakers directly shouldn't make a difference. If you have a wiring diagram saying different I would love to see it. It may save me some trouble. I have a pretty good unstanding of electronics (Audio/Video, a/c, d/c, etc.) so thats why I'm so curious about what you have said.

That is correct.

...but not what I was referencing. Just cautioning regarding messing with the harness. The sync wiring comes into the head unit independent of the speaker wiring and is coupled to the front door audio. If that is rewired, behind the harness, there is the danger of loosing Sync, if you don't re-couple those into the new assembly. I hope that makes more sense.

We may have been talking in circles. No worries... didn't mean to add confusion.

I think we were!! I totally understand what you are saying. Hopefully people wont mess with any wire that they are not sure what it is. I'm good enough with this stuff (and you seem to be as well) to know what is what and if not, to find out or leave it alone.

Now I just gotta get an amp to go along with the 6.75" speaker's and tweeters I just put it.

Agreed... I like when people just use the harness as designed.

Maybe these 2 pics will clarify it. Here is the Metra Harness I am using, first pic is stock harness.. 2nd pic is the speaker wires cut and the Sync coupled back together..

Not my pictures taken from another post in another forum...

Indeed... I'm not happy when people come asking why their Sync doesn't work with the harness they bought. It typically turns out that they did some rewiring of the harness and, in their haste, forgot to consider the Sync bindings.

Do you know if the SYNC has to be wired back in for vehicles equiped with the Sony system? I was just going to take the signals coming out of the sony amplifier and run them to a MS8 processor/signal summing device and was under the impression I wouldn't lose any functionality of the SYNC.

In concept, you shouldn't lose Sync, but I've not wired up an MS-8 yet.
