I replaced my rears with Alpine SPS 517s last night, and while the clarity is improved from the stock speakers, I'm finding a real lack of bass from them.
I was concerned the foam gasket on the front was too short, so I added a 2nd gasket on top of it (bring it out tighter to the back of the door grille), do you think it's possible the additional foam is dampening the bass response? It's the only thing I can think of. Everybody else seems to be very happy with their Alpines.

I don't think it has anything to do with the extra you put in, they are NOT low bass speakers. I specifically chose them as they do not have a high tonal range cause I was putting in subs to handle that.
