That kenwood HU should have Bluetooth anyway, so you should be able to play music from your iPod threw the new HU via bluetooth wirelessly..
As the instructions say, to play USB line in via sync you will have to set your HU to aux input.

I've got the MSFRD-1 and the SWI-JACK harnesses.
The plug thet says to connect it to the screen doesn't fit the plug for the OEM screen, You guys says the OEM screen would still work... Do I just not connect this plug?
Also any experience programming the SWI-JACK? The directions pretty much suck..
Thanks,

I will take one and post it.
It looks really nice, MUCH better than it looked in my '06 Dodge Ram. It actually looks like it was made for the truck. Which is because of the facia that it looks built in.
The ONLY thing I wish is that someone would made a facia plate that had the factory texture on it instead of smooth flat black. That's the ONLY complaint I have and it's not really a complaint more of a request!

look at this brochure... Page 5 has iDataLink on it. Hopefully that fixes a lot of issues whenever it comes out this summer.

2011 Lariat Touchscreen unresponsive
I too used this combo and am very happy with it. It works just like stock and I am impressed to see that there are no glitches.
As Wyo said, the info still comes up on the Sync screen and the small screen I just threw in the glove box. The only need for the small screen would be for some advanced settings that are pretty much one and done like setting up a new phone.
DDA, find a new shop! If they are not up on the info of the most popular truck in history, or what anyone can learn by visiting crutchfield on a computer...just imagine the great work they will do on your truck.

SYNC is not in the head unit. Some folks don't get the FRD-1 and just use bluetooth etc on the new head unit. I myself got the FRD-1 and a PAC steering wheel control that plugs into the FRD-1 without any additional wiring and couldn't be happier. And you don't need to use the small display that comes with the FRD-1. Everything shows up on the small screen where the temp and compass is.

iData link Maestro RR or RR2 works better with the F150 then the Pac audio but to answer your question yes you can retain all your on screen functions like climate control and tire pressure info extra gauges if you have that ability with aftermarket HU everything is plug and play also controls your heated and cooled seats and a overall better sound with the ability to control the factory amp if you have one
