Hey,

Was driving my truck this morning and needed to reset the clock due to daylight savings time, which brings me to the question....

Can you set the clock with out the factory radio installed? Or does the clock still show with out the factory radio?

The clock will not show on the Sync screen if you swap the HU. It will however show on your new HU.

Okay, HELP!

I finally got around to hooking up the new HU.

I've got the MSFRD-1 and the SWI-JACK harnesses.

The plug thet says to connect it to the screen doesn't fit the plug for the OEM screen, You guys says the OEM screen would still work... Do I just not connect this plug?

Also any experience programming the SWI-JACK? The directions pretty much suck..

Thanks,

The screen they are referring to is the screen that came with the FRD-1 unit.

As for programming, the directions do suck. Search youtube and you will see a video made by PAC. Should clear everything up for you.

Okay, so is it normal for the HU to power off when Sync is activated?

Mine does, this isn't cool because the HU then has to reboot when it's turned back on, and if you are using NAV it makes it even worse!

I did email PAC, they said I need to set the SWI to version 2, not version 9 like the Vehical application guide on their website says, though it makes more since now why the wire harness says "version 2"..

You need to cut the brown wire so the HU mutes and doesn't turn off. Call PAC and they will explain

Got it. Thanks!

I had the brown wire connected to the brown wire that connected to the factory ford harness, but after talking to PAC, they said that wire is not used (Not sure why they even have it then)

So now I have it connected to the correct one and No more powering off the HU!

I went ahead and ran the wire for the PAC LCD to the glove box incase for any reason I need to connect the LCD to access something, it'll be accessable.

I think I've got everything working now, Last questions...

On the OEM Display, it says "DVD" Is there any way to make it say something else or nothing? Also The outside temp no longer shows on the display, only the compus and "DVD", Is there any way to get the outside temp back on there?

Thanks!

-Chad

Mine says DVD and has the temp. Someone on one of the forums says that after he had some updates done at the dealership the DVD was gone

So I recently installed a Kenwood DNX6990HD double din deck and a MS-FRD1 to keep the sync system functions, as well the wiring to keep the steering wheel controls. Everything works great for navigation, radio, cd, dvd, and overall its fast unit.

The only problem I am having is that when i hook my ipod up to the sync it says disconnected on the deck and the FRD1 says idle. So i hit the media button and the FRD1 comes on and still nothing. When I hook it up to the FRD1 usb it shows up on the deck and acts like it should be playing but i get no sound out of the speakers. As well I went through the options and got it on the OEM display where it normally shows time/direction so forth, it shows the songs and the clock goes up like it should be playing and still no sound. When the sync is idle it says DVD.

Any suggestions? Thanks

I needed to manually select the input that SYNC is using on the new HU. It is over modulated and I switched it back to the iPod connection on my HU
