2010 stereo dissapointing...

I agree with Gator. Yea, an after market head unit would push the speakers, but they would not sound anywhere near as good as it would with an amp. If you want to keep everything the same brand, I suggest doing everything JL. You can get JL components for the doors, w3 subs, and JL amps. The JL stealth box will make the W3 subs fit under the seat.

You should be able to find a sub/enclosure combo that works for your truck and your space requirements, there are shallow mount 10s out there that can work with less than half a cubic foot of air space, and with depths of less than 4".

wow do i agree my 2010 came with 2 options premium sound and rev sensing my older 2005 premium sound was great and even had a sub loved it for stock.
this one ford should be imbarrassed by!
this weekend i installed 4 kicker door speakers somehow my son and i believe they sounded better in best buy well next i'll add some base and wish the money spent on premium sound didn't mean installing subs and speakers!
i was in a harley truck that system rocked is that the sony upgrade?

I bet they did, most aftermarket head units (which I'm assuming you were listening to on the BB sound wall) put out 2+ times the power of the stock head unit. You can add an amplifier to your current system and get a huge difference.

honestly, with all the stuff aftermarket head units have the sync system sucks. I always have problems with it not loading my usb's music and the hands free phone is more annoying than it is cool. I used it for the first month and then got tired of people riding with me hearing my conversation. lol

in the house
I too was looking at the CRUTCHFIELD site and was comparing the Infinity Reference speakers vs the Boston Acoustics S85.
Right now I am just wanting an upgrade over the horrific stock speakers, and will get down to some serious business in a year or two (once I have paid some other things off).
