the system in my 09 lariat is actually superb. the stock subwoofer far exceeds the expectations i had. only gripe i have is i cant adjust the system the way i want to. No equalizer? thats lame. Just having a bass and treble setting doesnt cut it for me. Any who i can live with that for now though

Yeah, i hate teh stereo in my 2010 as well. I want to keep sync working and the stock look though too, so i have go with a line output converter...though im still not sure if i am able to drive 2 amps this way, i already have a jl 250/1 amp, its older, but works just fine. I want a box with a single 10w3v3 woofer, and still don't know what i want to do for door speakers, probably go 6x8's in all for convenience...woudl like to go component, but don't know where i would put tweeters, and dont' want to do a lot of custom work.
A line output converter simply takes the high (speaker) level signal and changes it to a low (line/rca) level signal that the amp uses (this is what most aftermarket headunits output). A good amount of amps come with the line output converters built in (they'll say they have high/speaker level inputs). If you get a four channel amp and use that for your door speakers, look for one with RCA outs that you can hook to your sub amp.

In the 04-08s the stock tweeter hole is already there, you may want to check to see if you already have the mounting locations in yours as well.

Also, i have yet to see a pic of the 2010 door with panel removed, maybe i will do mine and donate this to the forum...

Okay ill start with the rant first. I never expect too much from stock systems but my 2010 stereo sucks bad. its just has the sync system but man i get it a little past half way and garbage. SO now to the fun stuff, uprgrading! i Will eventually get some subs under the rear seat (Screw) but for now just some new speakers and an amp. SUggestions on a good foundation? what are other running? Thanks

First things first, change the factory speakers out for something besides the paper crap that came with it. That alone will improve the overall audio performance before you even begin messing with subs and amps. Here's a link to Crutchfield. I've bought tons of stuff from them and they're a great easy to deal with company. Not to mention, they send EVERYTHING you need to install the speakers at no extra charge.
Here's the speakers I'd suggest, http://www.crutchfield.com/p_1086832...cf.html?tp=105
