The remote bass level control will do nothing for the bass roll off. What they mean by bass roll off is as the volume increases on your HU the bass frequencies are reduced. The remote bass level control will control the bass level in your new sub. Turn the level on the amp up all the way and then control it with your remote bass ****.
Am I totally missing something or are we saying the same thing?

Ok, got my parts in this evening. Now, if there are 4 wires that are the output of the amp running into the sub, can I cut them and rewire them to make the high power input on the B8?
If so, all I would need is power and ground, right?

Doesn't matter, not getting the power LED. Easy to assume its a defective unit but I guess there is one more fuse on the sub I can swap despite the fact that it looks unblown.
Let's assume for now that the only things connected are the power and ground. I should still at least get a power LED, right?
