Default 2005 F150 --->2008 F150 Head Unit

Alright guys, I have done my research and want to confirm with you that I have everything I need to do this swap.

Truck is a 2005 F150 with stock 6 disc head unit. I bought a newer unit from a 2008 F150. According to the seller, this vehicle was equipped with a AUX plug in for ipod etc.

I will need this antenna adapter correct?

Also going to purchase the OEM tray with input and harness.
Part # 7L3Z-15042A82-AA
Part # 3U2Z-14C411-FAA

I should be able to splice in to the main 16 pin harness that plugs into the head unit to make the AUX plug in work correct? Just want to make sure I have everything to complete the job before doing so. Thanks!!

I don't think you can splice into the existing harness to make it work.

So correct me if im wrong then. I bought an 08 Headunit which should have the AUX plug in on the dash correct? I was under the impression that all 08 F150's had this feature. Where does the harness from the AUX plug into for a factory setup?

The back of my unit looks like this.

This is the radio you should have I think. It has the AUX input on the front. Notice that it has the same outputs on the back as yours.

If your still looking for info on this let me know, I did the exact same swap from my 08 XLT to my 05 Lariat. Installed the radio and the Aux port / Dash unit. I removed the Pins in the wiring harness on the 08 that coincide with the wires on the Aux port and installed them in the same location on the wiring harness on the 05. Works great. No problems. Only issue is no steering wheel controls. From best of my understanding, this is due to the fact my XLT did not have steering controls so the HU was not programmed to accept it. However, it does have the capability and the connections are there. You have to go to Ford and have them reprogram the HU to recognize that you have steering controls hooked to it. I was quoted 1hr labor at $95.00. I decided I could just turn the **** for that price. I drew a diagram before I swapped the wires out if you would like to see it to know what wires and where they need to go.
