Default 2004 F150 Factory Sub replacement

I think I finally blew the factory sub. Which sub is recommended as a replacement if I simply wanted to swap the old with a new keeping the current factory sub box.

I thought I read someplace that the factory model is an 8 inch "shallow mount".

Just trying to confirm proper size / fit --- what about wiring????

Thanks

Rich

I am looking at doing this in my current system. I would like to upgrade the existing sub, while keeping the original factory box.

First, has anyone here done this already?

What has your experience been with the sound? Improved over stock? Or same?

I am not wanting to buy a new aftermarket box setup right now. Just wanting to see if my current box will handle a nice Kicker upgrade. I plan on updating the amp though.

Thoughts??

From what I have read it does improve the sound. Also stuff the sub box with some fill
