So here is a good question... If I wanted to get the lows back, could I use the harness originally designed for the OEM sub (understanding that they originally went to an amp) and splice them directly to the existing speakers? Wouldn't that in theory work? That's all that was sent through there anyway, so without an amp it would just have the output equal to a speaker. Could that work? Get the harness that was for the OEM amp, and connect it to the speakers?

So, the only way to get them back is to either add an amp, or add a sub? I thought I had seen a product that converted RCA to speaker outputs? I might be wrong, but thats what I was thinking of when I asked the question.

That's what an amp does.

I know that, but the RCA's that originally come off of the radio are "line-in" level?
I guess what I'm asking is can i use this product:
http://www.google.com/products/catal...d=0CGkQ8wIwAA#
If the RCA's coming out of the radio are line-in level, then I know I cant use them as speaker wires. If they aren't then I know I can.
So, are the RCA's usable as speaker wire so I can simply connect them to speakers?

Well, I dug a little deeper and found this out. I don't think I will need anything after all.
The model # for the radio is: 8L3T-18c815-KC
And it came out of a Standard cab 2008 F150. So right there I know that it didnt have a sub. There are 3 plugs on the back of the unit + antenna. My truck only used the big plug as it was a standard AM/FM/CD player. Knowing this, what can you tell me?

Cars don't live here...
hope you can help!!
Ok here goes.....replaced factory door speakers with 4 new Pioneer 6x8's. No fancy stuff, used the wires that came with the speakers and just tapped into the factory wires and left the factory harness there in case I wanted to take them out. Now....Hubby used his redneck talent to wire in an 8'' sub under the back seat. So with this, there is a ground to the back seat mount, a wire to the battery and a wire to the fuse panel.( I'm sure this is a sin in the audio world.) The last truck he did this to was his '03, mine is an '04. If there's one thing I've learned so far, it's that this '04 is differnt from his '03 in more than one way.
So on to the problem....power from some where is draining the battery. Had the battery checked and the alternator, both I was told were fine. Wires and connections are good. Nothing exposed. Disconected the the sub from the battery, so there shouldn't be power source there. Could it be pulling power from the radio? Which is ultimately conected to the battery. I'm guessing it needs to be wired different. At any rate, I've had to jump it every morning for the last 3 days, which is when this problem started.

So did he or didn't he unhook the amp powering the sub? (this by itself won't drain it unless the REM wire is constant) I am doubtful that this is the issue, but never discount the simple solution. Also, is the radio aftermarket? If so then I suppose it's possible it's draining it, but you would have melted wires or magic smoke from the dash. Only other foreseeable thing I can think of is that he didnt use an ignition only REM for the amp. If he has installed car audio in the past he should easily know this. Other than the obvious things (assuming those are the only recent wire related changes) perhaps you are leaving a dome light on? I don't think that would drain the battery overnight, but maybe? I would have the battery checked by more than one place too, could have a bad cell not allowing the alternator to recharge it.
