2 x 8" vs 1 x 10" vs 1 x 12"
I've been reading about this issue over the last couple of weeks and haven't come across any answers or explanations that really make sense. As the Title eludes I'm having trouble making the decision between two 8s a single 10 or single 12. The aspects that I have decided on are subwoofer make and the amplifier but I'm willing to entertain other options.
For the amplifier I chose the JL XD1000/5v2 which means I have 600 watts at 2 ohms to play with. I've read tons of good things about sundown subwoofers so I want to use them in my truck build. The SD-2 series would be the easiest to incorporate into my screw as it wouldn't require a one off box. I also want to maintain the stock seat height.
Not looking for earth shattering base but I do like some rumble and tight base so was leaning towards sealed. I listen to all types of music except country. The options I'm thinking are:
2 x SD-2 8 D2
1 x SD-2 10 D4
1 x SD-2 12 D4
If I decide to go single and can find someone to make a box for me that won't cost me an arm and a leg might even look at one of the SA series. I would appreciate any insight.

I also listen to all types of music, except country, and have a JL xd 600/1 amp. It was running a single 10" jl10tw3 built to spec, sealed enclosure and sounded very good. Tight bass that hit hard. I just got the 13.5" jl tw5 and it sounds even better and hits even harder. Very good sounding sub. No experience with sundown but I hear they hit hard. I would go one 12" if you can make it fit down firing in a sealed enclosure just so you have those nice lows. Two 8's just take up too much room for my liking.

Who did you get to make your box? I've been talking to the ebay box builder Randy and he's worried about the depth.
Right now I'm planning to use a Audio Control DQ-61, I haven't seen any bad references about them. You happy with the audison? Thanks again for the input.

The audison is great, no issues, I just have to plug it in the laptop to adjust for my new sub. A friend of mine built the box for the 10. The 13.5 I have now came in a JL box. I just flipped it to down fire and cut two strips to use as feet to space it from the floor as it has a grill for protection too. I have no experience with audio control products but lots of other guys on this forum use them

I had a a single 10 JL in my previous vehicle and upgrade to a 12 in my screw. as 48ford stated, The lows are much better and I feel more bass with the 12. I have 400watts at 2ohm going to the sub.
I made my enclosure, for a shallow mount pioneer:
Here's the newer model and a pioneer enclosure to match. There are some forum members that have used this pioneer box with pleasing results:
