2 OHM or 4 OHM?
So I just bought an Alpine PDX-1.600 to push two alpine type S 10s. Thing is, Alpine says i can run 2 or 4 OHM subs with this amp and still get a constant 300 watts to each of them. Would it be better for me to use 2 or 4 OHM subs?

Depends... 2 Ohm will get you deeper bass and a very hard hit, but if you go with them, you might need to get some mids and tweets so that you can actually hear the vocals of the song. 4 ohm you will still get the hit, but not as hard. But you will hear more vocals. Still recommended though to get the mids and tweets for that.
Personally, I would go with the 2 Ohm but get some mids and tweets and intall them in different spots in the car. My friend has that set up in his Bronco. 4 2ohm Boss Outlaw Subs, about 16 tweets, 4 capacitors, 3 batterys, and 4 Amps... But I can hear his music from about 2 miles away and it shakes my house lol
But make SURE you hook up a capacitor... otherwise your going to have a new alternator coming your way... I was immature and wasn't thinking... and thats what I got... $450 job

I have an Alpine mono 600 watt, and i used to run 2 type s 10s and i went with th 2 ohm. i didnt get any tweets or mids. i mostly listen to rock and with 300 watts to each sub they dont usually hit hard enough to drown out the rest of the music.

o snap, didn't read the part where you wanted to put out constant 300 watts... yeah ^^^ you shouldn't need mids or tweets. I was thinking if you went to about 1200 watts each sub, then you might want to consider it because all your ears will be doing is vibrating

Hey, thanks fellas. I was wondering why you said hook up a capacitor. I don't want too much bass. I would love it but I have kids too so i have to think about that. Thanks again

yep. youll be fine, turn the bass down while theyre in the car, crank it up when theyre not. ha ha. theyll sound great high and low. make sure you have rearview mirror mounting glue handy though. mine fell off the other day. ha ha

oh and doesn't matter how much bass you want... amp is going to pull the same amount of power either way... and i was running crappy subs too when it blew

ive run my 600watt in my ranger and my 150, not a single problem in either.
we arent talking about the amount of bass per sub per amp. we are talking about a 2 ohm being too much bump or not on a sub pulling 300 watt.
i could understand running a capacitor while bumping 2-12s with a 1000 watt amp. but a little 600 watt pushing 300 to each wont be a problem.
