2 10" JL Setup | Need Help
Okay so I'm completely new to audio work and such, anyways....I think its about time to get some more bass in the truck. I have a Fox Box for 2 10" shallow subs, http://www.foxacoustics.com/ProductD...50-SC-210-V-09 and leaning toward a pair of barely used 10" JL Audio 10W0V3 subwoofers from a friend. Will this setup work together, and which amp should I go with, not looking for something to insane but definitely trying to get the mirrors shaking.

That setup will work, I have a pair of the Alpine type R's in that box in that truck. Basically same setup just more power. Really no complaints about them. But for the JL's you're gonna want to run them at 2 ohms to get the most out of one mono amp if you really want them to get the mirror's shaking. They are 300watts rms a piece. So you're gonna want an amp that does 600 watts rms or more. Not terribly expensive to find one like that but you'll need to give a budget for real recommendations.

Local shop recommended the JL250 or something like that for around 200$ and 150$ install

For $200 you can get plenty of good amps. Unless you have some brand loyalty to JL which it seems like you do. Otherwise theres great amps for under $200 but not by too much.

I say do it yourself. Crutchfield has good customer service and so does Google. Between those two you should be OK. Plus if something goes wrong youll know where to look.
Do you have an aftermarket head unit? Id suggest one if no.

I would definitely not run the JX250 as it is barely got enough ***** for one of your 10's. You need to move up to the JX 500 if you are going to stay with JL. You may want to look at other amplifiers like the Fosgate Prime R500X which is 500 watts at 2 ohnm for the same price as the JX250.

I bought my R500X for $119 new in the box online here:

You will need a minimum of 8 gauge from the battery to the amp and 8 ga for the ground. I would suggest that you run a minimum of 16 ga for the speaker wires but I would seriously consider 12 ga. Wire brand wise I would suggest something like Stinger or the like. I have bought from these guys in the past and they typically have really good pricing:

A line out converter is what you need to run and typically you can use the factory sub woofer speaker leads under the seat to tap for the inputs to the line out converter. Most of the newer line out converters have the remote turn on built into them like this PAC unit:

When using one of these all you need is power, ground, and speaker inputs and you will get RCA out with remote turn on for your amp.
