Default 1997 F150 factory amp delete

Hi,
I have searched hi and lo, and cannot find a definitive answer. I have a 97 f150 4x4 3door that I want to replace the factory stereo with a aftermarket unit. This truck has the premium sound with auto tune button, remote cd changer, and external amp. I don't want to use the factory amp, so I need to bypass it. I believe their is a harness that can do that, but have not found the exact wiring harness I need. The harnesses included with aftermarket radios are not what i need. They show 2 rectangle 8 pin connectors in one kit. My factory radio has 1, 8 pin flat connector, and one 16 ? pin square connector. I guess the external amp in this year 97 f150 must be rare or something, because I cannot find any definitive answer anywhere, on what harness is needed that includes a proper bypass cable.

I figured I would put this out there, and see if anyone has done this to their 97 and would share some tips on how they did it.

I guess I need to locate the amp in the dash, and see if I can see what the connectors would look like to bypass the amp. Does anybody know how to access the amp on this year truck?

Thanks for your time......... Bruce

This is the harness you need to bypass the amp: http://www.metraonline.com/part/Afte...arness_70-5514

I've yet to see one in an F150, but I'm fairly sure it's under the dash.
