'15 Audio Parts List
I humbly submit my audio upgrade parts list for the forums approval and or suggestions. I have an xlt supercrew ecoboost, no fake engine noise, no sony, no navigation, no center channel.
Factory Head Unit
Front doors and a pillar tweeters. Polk DB 6501 $133
Rear doors. Polk DB 651 $70
5 channel amp JL RD900/5 $500
Subwoofer JL 10TW3 $280
JL Audio Fix $300
Id love to fit this sub behind the rear seats instead of under. Box suggestions?
I guess I will need some kind of adapter to mount the 6.5's in the doors. Any suggestions there?
I am still trying to decide if I want to tackle this install myself or pay a local audio install shop to do it. I've been a professional mechanic for over 16 years... but this custom audio is somewhat outside my comfort zone. About what should I expect to pay for a quality install with them supplying the labor and everything else that will be necessary that I do not have listed here?
Thanks!

First and biggest tip: Do not buy a bunch of gear and bring it in to a shop for install. If you ever have problems with it in the future it will be on you to fix it, since the shop will blame the gear you bought and they won't have to stand behind it. If a shop is going to install, buy it from the shop, period. If you are going to DIY, fine, do that.
I have never seen a sub mounted behind the seat on one of these. Even a shallow sub. I have a shallow mount 10" under my seat in a generic wedge shaped box and it works pretty well. About what you would expect, and it only takes up about 1/3 of the space under the seat.
Unless you only care about bass, the biggest difference you will hear between systems is in the amp and the front speakers. Prioritize your money into getting the best match of amp and speakers you can. It looks like you have done that pretty well.

A 10SM Sub & Amp, will fit behind the rear seat of a Screw! I got this Rockford box and sm sub for 95.00 on Amazon. Going to upgrade to the jl w3, soon.

That looks like what I want to do Toddman. Will the JL TW3 fit in that box? Do you have a link to it? So that box is just sitting there on top of a 2x4? What is the amp attached to exactly?

Heres a link to the sm RF sub and box, the box came with brackets to secure it. Which I did, to a 1x5x20... yes, a JL w3, will fit this box!

I used a spare 1x10x 6ft I had laying around, and cut it to fit my box. I trimed the seatbelt bolt (1") with a bandsaw. If you dont trim the bolt, you need the 2x4!
My Alpine amp, is screwed down to a 1"x9x9 thick piece of plywood wrapped in carpet, behind the padding.
My amp sits 1 &1/2" off the ground, just below the power sliders motor.

Diy it, I did. I just tapped the oem sub connectors wires, for the Amps signal. As my alpine, through its high level input, will get its music signal and remote turn on through the High Level input harness.
Cost me 35.00 to have my dealer, enable the sub connector. Its behind the d.s. rear pillar panel.

I plan to swing by Home Depot, this weekend to get some 1 & 1/2" rubber feet. To attach to the top corners, which will rest against the seatback! Ill post pics, this weekend.
Oem 8" HU, and stock 7 speakers for now. I plan to get Polks, or Infinitis for the 4 doors, but no processor.

Looks like you have a nice list of equipment lines up. Just a heads up, if you want to save a few hundred dollars, I highly recommend the amp listed below. Similar specs to the JL, and reviews have been phenomenal! I've been using it for about a month or so, and it's been great. I'm a JL fan too. I'm using the JL Fix 86 processor, and have 2 8" JL W3's. Good luck with the build!
