Default 05 Supercrew Rear Door Speakers

Before anybody says it, I know the rear door speaker size is 6x8. I currently own a pair of infiniti kappa 6x9's that I'd like to use instead of going out to purchase new speakers. Has anybody successfully fit a pair of 6x9's into the rear doors of the 04+ supercrews either by cutting or possibly by making a spacer/adapter? And if so, what kind of work was involved?
Thanks

Something like that would work but I know in my doors I don't have room for them. Nothing a saw couldn't fix.

I'm not afraid to cut a bit of metal out of the doors, but I'm moreso worried about front mounting space. Between the door frame and the door panel. If theres enough room there so that if I do put an adapter in will the speaker be pushed right against the door panel and not have room to move

I looked at fitting Fosgate 6x9s (3" top depth) in an '11 SCREW with no luck. Even with some cutting the speaker has to sit too far forward in the door to clear window gear and would need a 5/8" baffle which as you already figured out makes it contact the door panel. You could mount on the panel itself but not worth the effort.
