Default wiring

Hello folks, I am having an issue with a 1989/1995 F150 4x2 4.9, the reasoning behind the dual years is the same as the name I have given the truck. I had a 1995 in the driveway that had been wrecked a couple months ago, and I came across a 1989, well needless to say the 1989 was in better shape than the 1995, but needed some interior work, and by that I mean when I got it all it had on the interior was the wiring harness. So, me thinking I had half a clue about making this truck work using the wrecked 1995 interior parts, proceeded to install the clutch/brake pedal assembly, steering column and other miscellaneous parts. Well everything seemed to be going fine until I got the steering column installed after much modification, then as I was hooking up the wires from the 1989 harness, I found that there were some different colors than on the 1995 column. well I got the hazards working, the head and taillights ad the insturment cluster backlight. unfortunately I cannot seem to get the turn signals or the ignition cylinder to operate. When I put the key in the ignition nothing happens. Is there anyone out there that can help me through this ? Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Needless to say I'm a little confused! Does the ignition switch turn? If so, was the clutch safety switch installed?

is the lock cylinder switching the ignition switch on? there's a mechanism behind the steering wheel that activates the ignition switch.

The steeringcolumn that is currently in the truck is from the 1995 so the electronics for the ignition are on a bulkhead plug, abd the controls for the 1989 are in some sort of relay setup. the ignition cylinder does turn, however all I get out of it is the chimes. I have temporarily bypassed the ignition cylinder with a solenoid jumper to start the truck, but I would really rather get this put back the way it belongs.

I know you've put a lot of effort into using that column.what about using the original one?

I would have loved to have been able to use the original column, but unfortunately there was none to use as when I got the truck the only thing in the cab was the wiring harness.

Why not take the WHOLE harness from the 95 that way its all plug and play. Sounds alot easier than modifying the 2 into one.
