Default Tow mode

Hello to everyone. I am a new Ford owner, I have bought a 2013 f150 fx off road with a 5 litre engine . I bought this truck to haul my 25 foot TT weighing 6400 lbs dry weight . I have done one trip so far and have averaged 12 miles per gallon or 23 litres per 100 km . The differential is a 3:55 nod the truck gives me excellent mileage when not towing . My question is am I asking too much from this truck or is this mileage with load normal . Tow mode was on for full trip and in hills I did not go over 3500 RPM . Any and all advise would be appreciated as I do not want to damage the truck .

I live in Canada so if I convert litres to gallons imperial measure it is 22.6 MPG if I convert to U.S. Gallon it is 18.8 MPG . Those numbers are what I get not hauling and not being aggressive either highway miles . At 12 MPG it's a lot of gas . Thanks
