Default Newbie in colorado with 2001, screw, 4x4, 5.4

Just bought a 001, F150 SCrew, 4x4. Had a shudder in the rear diff so I changed the fluid to Valvoline 75/140 Synthetic and added friction modifier. Didn't know that the Synthetic would eat most gasket sealers so I had to drain it three times but saved the fluid each time.

Finally bought a paper gasket, refilled with the same fluid I drianed out (it was only 2 weeks old) and now seem to have more of a shudder than ever.

Any thoughts? It also sounds like I have a loud rumble in the rear diff area.

Welcome... When are you noticing the shudder? If you are sure it's the rear end, try new fluid. I had a shudder with turning and it took 3 fluid changes to go away on our Expy, but a different shudder on the highway in my truck that lead to a rebuilt tranny...

ive always been told to never reuse tranny fluid, no matter how old it is so maybe you just need all new fluid

I thought about the fluid thing, the shudder is just when turning and is positively the differential. I think I'm just going to put in a set of new LS cluthes if I can find them.

Welcome. Hopefully you can get the shrudder fixed. If you do, post a thread. It could possibly help someone, 1 day.
