Im not sure about what you mean about putting another cat on your truck it already has two on it but you wouldnt need another one if thats what you're asking.

if you want to spent money on something you wont notice, but if you want a exhaust that will put a smile on your face..
replace the stock cats with 2 magnaflow high flow cats, run 3 inch true duals with a h or x pipe, and no mufflers, or some mufflers of your choice if you want.

ford trucks 97-up have 4 cats, and some people do cut out the two pre cats, but they then have problems with their CEL being on all the time.
most people usuallt replace the pre cats and the cats with two high flow cats. there WILL be a high drop in back preasure, so people who run high flow cats, a larger diameter pipe, and no muffelers or glasspacks dont notice a performance increase, and usually a drop in lo end power.
running high flow cats is mostly to get more sound.
