New Memeber from Iowa
Howdy, to all. Not new to cars at all, but a little new to Fords. I have a 93 Mustang 5.0, and we purchased a 2013 Edge late last year.
I just rescued a 93 f150, Regular Cab, 4x4, Flareside from the local salvage yard that was about to be sent to the crusher.
It has a bad 5.0 in it, the rest of the truck is not too bad, well I have seen way worse any way. I thought my daughter and I could work on it together. Not sure of the mileage, as there is no battery in it, but there is an oil change sticker on the windshield that says 174k.
Now I am just trying to decide what I want to do about the engine, rebuild the original 5.0 or replace with a used 5.0 or 5.8 and from what year??
Starting to get a little overwhelmed and maybe somewhat discouraged with the different engine options and what Ford did over the years to the injection system, cams, etc. Also these trucks are old enough now that finding a used engine with decent miles is next to impossible.
Not sure weather to make the truck a full blown resto project, or just try to get it running as cheaply as possible.
Lots of decisions to make.
This forum will be helpful.
