Hello!
Hello All,
I bought my first new F150 2013 FX4 Super Crew with EcoBoost about a month ago. I love the truck. After my first car wash though, I found some dust(under clear coat ) and crack (front of rain channel on roof). I am supposed to take it to the dealer for photos and see what Ford says about repair but I am debating between leave them alone or have them repaint. With all of the imperfections (hood, roof, tailgate by tail light and passenger door) a service guy at a dealership says it will be a lot of work. All of these are pretty small dust and things and I question that is it worth my brand new truck taken a part. All of the horror stories I keep hearing with terrible repainting and body work at dealerships, I am worry that if I went forward with repainting, I will be opening an another can of worms. What are your guys thoughts and experience on smilier situations? Thanks all!

welcome to the site.
there's no excuse for a brand new truck to have anything but paint trapped under the clearcoat, those cracks don't belong there either. personally I'd be after them for a re-paint and the other work needed, and if they screwed it up I'd confront them and let them know I'd be publicizing their lousy service and work. if you're covered for an issue you deserve it fixed.
however, if you're more comfortable putting up with it the way it is, it's best to go with your gut.

Dang.. brings back bad memories! Sorry to hear this! I bought a truck/ some say car (ridgeline) in 2007.. Dealer put on some accessories and when I picked it up, I found they had scratched to door and passenger mirror. They said no worries, they would paint it...Long Story shorter
-1st paint looked good except they screwed up a fender
- 2nd paint looked horrid and had over spray on other areas
- 3rd attempt was a joke. Now, a new car/truck that was almost fully repainted with streaks and blemishes all around
I go into the dealer and say NOW you owe me a new truck and they agreed.
So far, sounded good.. picked out a truck, go in to sign papers and they wanted 5K for a new one...No negotiation. I left... Phone calls, etc, left me no where...
traded it elsewhere and lost my butt.
If I were you I would ask the dealer for a new truck.. when they laugh at you, then call Ford and tell your story.
If they want to repaint?? at minimum I would ask for a body shop of your choice!
Good luck

Thank you all for the welcome!! It is just sucks, isn't it? As a customer who is purchasing a brand-new vehicle, we should be entitled to a damage free product. No questions asked. This is my very first brand new vehicle and I have always been Toyota and Honda guy. I wanted to get a pick up for my new ride and I didn't look another manufacture (well, I looked at Tundra a bit) but it was no brainer, FORD!! My father and bother in laws all have Fords, so it was time for me to join a family… Well, I know all manufactures have these kind of problems but my wife and I just welcomed a baby 4 weeks ago and it is not my list of things to do go back out to the dealership and deal with this. Can Ford offer me more discount (some money back) and/or give me extend warranty for extra two more years so I am covered for the next five years? Service guy said it will be impossible to match the paint if I wait few years? I guess after time color will fade and fresh paint will just not match? It is just very disappointing. Buying a car should be a wonderful experience. Any way, I will take it back to the dealer and have them take photos and go from there. Sorry my reply got little long...

BTW, if you look after the truck it shouldn't fade to the extreme you can't match the color pretty well. as well, spots of repair paint blend in over time.

Welcome from Salmon, Idaho. Those are pretty small blemishes. Having worked on an assembly line building cars, You'll find those kind of blemishes on any vehicle. I'd leave it alone. Have the dealer document the problem and if you have issues down the road they will have to fix it then.

Thanks Marc D. Ford vehicles seemed treated you well I see. Look at those miles!! That is great!! They are pretty minor, I know. My gut is telling me leave it alone but the other conscious side is telling me "You don't deserve this, have them make it right!". I don't think total repaint for those areas are definitely not my best choice, I don't think. I don't remember any cases like this ending great paint job and 100% satisfactions. All I see in the forum is ending with horror stories. I must say, I love the truck and no regret for buying F150. I guess this is one of those "Learning Experience" that don't buy a truck while your wife is about to deliver a baby, so you can spend as much time you want looking over the truck at delivery. But roof? I know what to look for next time, 10 years from now. I hope my truck will serve me as well as your Fords
