Hello everyone, new member here!

I have a question regarding my truck, it’s an 08 F-150 Limited. Whenever I slow down to stop or take off from a stop there seems to be a slight clunk occurring. Sometimes this clunk causes a slight thud to occur (like someone crashed into the back of my truck). I also realized that whenever my dash light for the 4WD comes on the clunk never happens and everything appears to be normal. I was told by the dealership that they believe it’s the transmission. Has anyone else experienced a problem similar to this, or have an idea of what it possibly could be?

And no I haven’t had either of them done. I did come across some articles from people who have experienced this clunk sound and many of them pointed to it being the slip yoke. There was no mention if their clunk sound stopped occurring when the 4wd light came on

that might be because u get an extra boost of acceleration from ur front wheels. and since ur not needing so much power coming from the rear , u dont get the clunk sounds. try changing the plugs and tranny flush and see how it runs
