Hey guys, new member here from Doylestown PA.
I just brought home a new (to me) 2002 F-150 crewcab this morning. It's an 02 F-150 crew cab with a 5.4, auto trans, 3:55 traction lock rear, and only has 72,000 original miles.
The truck belonged to my buddy Brian who is an ASE certified mechanic and has worked for the same Ford dealer for over 20 years. We're friends through our classic cars and when I was at his house about a month ago helping him do some minor work to his car, he mentioned to me that he was thinking of getting a newer truck. I asked him what he was going to do with his F-150 and he said he'd give me a good deal if I was interested.
Long story short, it's in my driveway as of this morning. Previously, my daily drive was my 95 Jeep Wrangler. I bought this Jeep brand new in 1995 when I got out of the Marines. It's been my daily ever since. I've driven it daily for 20 years and I've loved it, but his truck was too good to pass up. I'm loving it and as you can imagine, it's a HUGE upgrade over my 95 Wrangler.
I'm an old school car guy. The reason I always drove a beat up Wrangler to work for 20 years is because I only live 7 miles from my job and I prefer to spend my money on my classic car. I have a totally resto-modded 72 Z/28. It's an original Z/28 but the factory 350 is long gone. Having been replaced by a GM 502, 502HP crate motor, a Tremec 5 speed trans and a 12 bolt rear with 3:73 gears.
I'm loving my new F-150 and the fact that I bought it from a friend who is a Ford mechanic and has offered his expertise on any issues I might have in the future is very comforting.
I'm happy to be a member of the forum and I'm looking forward to learning more about my F-150!
Here's my new truck:
Here's my 95 Wrangler which has a 4 cyl, 5 speed. I'm keeping this Jeep. I'm going to re-do it as a project with my 10 year old son. He wants it for when he turns 16.
Here's my 72 Z. It's a nasty beast with a 502HP crate motor, 5 speed Tremec stick shift, and a 12 bolt rear with 3:73 gears.
