Hello to everyone,
I just recently purchased a new 2014 F-150 XLT 4x4 ecoboost and I decided to join this forum to learn more about the ecoboost technology. I am not new to the Ford truck family. I have owned many Ford trucks over the years, both gas and diesel engines.
My last new truck was a 2004 F-150 4x4 XLT with the infamous 5.4L 3v engine. I called it my hybrid engine - part gas >1200 RPM's, part diesel 1200 RPM's and below. I can't really complain though, because while this engine had it's issues with cam phasers, VCT solenoids, spark plugs etc, mine never gave me any problems over the 10 years and 140K miles I owned and drove it.
I thought I may miss my old baby. But after driving my new truck with the ecoboost engine, I have never looked back - didn't have too. I am very happy so far with the new truck (800 mi) It certainly has power beyond what I anticipated. I'm just a little concerned with some of the reported problems on this platform - albeit mostly in the earlier model years. Hopefully I can learn from all the experience that resides on this forum, and in the process contribute some useful information as I gain more experience with the ecoboost technology.
